Welcome to the Pitshanger Poets

Welcome to the Pitshanger Poets Workshop Blog.

We hold a weekly workshop at the Questor’s Theatre in Ealing to read and discuss our work; you are welcome to join us. This blog will keep you updated with news from the workshop, poetry events and examples from our membership, old and new.

We meet every Tuesday night from 8pm in The Library, Questor’s Theatre, Mattock Lane, Ealing, London. Bring a poem, bring copies and be ready to discuss it in a friendly, enthusiastic group.

  2. Generally I do not read post on blogs, but I wish to say that this write-up very forced me to try
and do it! Your writing style has been surprised me.

    Thanks, very nice article.

I wouldn’t like to associate with the kind of people who would like to associate with me, particularly when drunk on empathy.

    I never comment on comments…

I’d rather be a poet that doesn’t know it, rather that a know it all who was a poet.

Hi, I’m a geography teacher at Twyford CE not far from Ealing. As part of the A-Level course we are looking at Ealing as a case study. I was wondering if you had or could recommend some poetry/writing/songs about Ealing itself. Or indeed point me in the right direction.

    Thank you very much.

    Jonty Poward.

Is there any cost? I am a new poet and just curious to see what I can learn from more experienced poets

  8. Hi Jeanette, the cost is a mere £3 per week to pay for the room hire and the cost of the toner in your home printer to run off a dozen copies of any poem you wish to share. HOWEVER, the first week you come is for free! And you needn’t feel obliged to bring any verse along should you not wish to (or if your computer is being less than co-operative) – indeed, it is entirely permissible to attend with naught but a smile and a pair of ears.

Would this group be accepting of a relatively young and inexperienced poet? I’d love to attend some of your meetings but fear I would be wasting your time. Thanks, look forward to hearing back from you.

    • Hi Jeremy – The answer is an emphatic yes. We welcome poets of all ages and experience. We are an eclectic group with few rules and no sacred cows. Please feel free to along one Tuesday, bring copies of your stuff to pass around and expect constructive comments.
